Description

Ansys Zemax OpticStudio allows the simulation, optimisation, and tolerance of our optical build(s) to aid in component sourcing, experimental analysis, and requirements definition.

Setup

This section will take you through the setup process required to run Zemax on the ‣.

1. Connect to UTAT VPN: The Zemax license manager we use to give us access to our floating licenses is running on the UTAT server. Connection instructions can be found on OpenVPN.
2. Run Zemax: If the preceding steps were executed successfully, you should be able to launch Zemax OpticStudio and start using it. If something goes awry, see the debugging section.

Debugging

If you get an error window on launching Zemax stating that the license manager cannot be reached, try the following strategies.

• Check your VPN Connection: Check to ensure your VPN was configured correctly and is turned on.
• Bug IT : If all else fails, let the IT channel know on Slack. Chances are, the Zemax license manager is down on the UTAT server and needs to be restarted.
