Over this onboarding process, we want you to learn how to use Altium ! Altium is the software we use to design our PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) which control, power, and support our satellite!
To support your learning process, the next few meetings we’ll go over some good general design practices for schematic and PCB layout. These meetings also serve as a good way to stay on track so try to attend as many as you can! It will also be great if you got to know our Electrical Structure. Electrical System Diagram is a great place to start!
You will learn how to use Altium by designing a PCB which will act as a very simple OBC (on board computer) for the fictitious “Sparrow” satellite (SPRW for short). Since it is the OBC, it has a microcontroller that follows the following requirements:
Here’s the scheduled date and content of each onboarding tutorial happening at MY618 (or MY857 overflow) from 3pm to (around) 3:30pm :
Date | Content |
---|---|
May 17 | Installing Altium and getting your education license! Grouping! |
May 24 | Selecting components + starting a schematic |
May 31 | Layout guidelines + getting ready for ordering! |
In case you’d like to skip ahead, here is an overview of what you will be doing for this onboarding process. You will be able to find this in your personal page which you should make at the bottom of this page.
