This page outlines the progress of the prototyping of FINCH. This should be a living document and should be used to track all progress and lessons learned from prototyping

- We realized that we can’t build the top subassembly upside down with the threaded rod included
- We can’t individually put each component into the threaded rods
- Several options
- Use a pin/non threaded rod to keep everything in place, then take it out (?) and thread the rod in
- Build everything bottom up with something holding the top subassembly components in place

- We cut threaded rod into pieces..
October 16, 2024
- We put heat inserts into the +z panel again
- Everything in top subassembly is good except battery pack needs bigger inner holes
- We were able to put together the top subassembly (mostly) with one threaded rod
- We need to find other 10 cm threaded rods to finish it

- Reprint +Z panel and reinsert heat inserts
- Successfully printed ADCS module, RF transceiver, stackup bracket, PCB placeholders
- Print battery pack with holes in the corner with 4mm diameter
- Print 4x the top section of the rails again
- Print assembly fixtures
September 11, 2024
- Remaining components to print: Rails, battery pack, -Z fixture, brackets
