Description

Siemens NX is the software the thermal team uses to model the thermal simulations which the CubeSat will experience in space. These simulations are essential to analyze and ultimately design the thermal control of the satellite, both active and passive. We input the CAD model (from SolidWorks) created by the Structures/Payload-mech subsystems and input the thermal parameters for FINCH to obtain simulations such as the one below.

Tasks

• Build NX model with 6 panels (similar to 6-node model)

  • Get NX and nodal models to match in terms of temperature solutions

• Add all components (simplified) and obtain results

  • Model heat flow paths between components

    Modelling Heat Flow Paths

• Analyze results to inform thermal design and control decisions

  • Taping project, electronics heating, etc.
