Hello! I’m the incoming optics team lead (April 2024). During that time, I hope to give a big push ahead with the amazing work being done at UTAT Space Systems on the payload design.

If you have any optics-related inquiries, feel free to reach out (e.g., something FINCH-related, questions about PEY or summer research, good textbooks, etc. )

A few snapshots of what I’ve worked on for PEY / Undergraduate Thesis:

The cover picture, if you were wondering, is taken from the JenTower in Jena, Thuringia, Germany. Jena is the small city of 60,000 residents in East Germany where Carl Zeiss set up his first optics workshop in the 1850s, which later became the world-famous company (ZEISS). A symbiotic research and development partnership between Carl Zeiss, Ernst Abbe, and Otto Schott allowed ZEISS to co-develop the optomechanical assembly, optical design, and optical glass manufacturing together “under one roof” in their factory from 1860-1880. Decades of innovation, quality workmanship, and good governance brought ZEISS to become a world leader in precision optics. In more recent headlines, one may have noticed that ZEISS supplies the ultra-precise optics for ASML’s optical lithography equipment. ZEISS is undisputably one of the most advanced optics companies in the world, and to think that they had a modest start in a secluded part of East Germany…
