Overview
MINCO HK6904 Polyimide Thermofoil heaters are flexible heaters bonded using an acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA).
Handling
DO:
- Wear gloves when handling component to prevent contamination of heater and adhesive.
- Clean the application area using a suitable solvent such as acetone or alcohol.
- Avoid trapping air within the adhesive during the mounting procedure:
- Apply the heater starting from a corner edge, using firm and even hand pressure.
- Peel off release liner slowly, while applying firm pressure outward to the unadhered sections to avoid trapping air.
- If necessary, use a rubber roller to press the heater into place and remove any trapped air. This step should be repeated after the heater is baked in a vacuum chamber, to maximize adhesion.
DO NOT:
- Touch exposed PSA once the release liner is peeled off.
- Cut the perimeter or surface of the heater, and its lead wires. replacement of the heater will likely be necessary if this occurs.
- Partial PSA removal and reapplication is not recommended.
Care
Storage
- Heater should be stored in a temperature and humidity controlled environment (16C/60F to 27C/80F & 40-60 RH%) for a maximum of 60 months (5 yr) to maintain adhesive quality.
- Storage environment should limit UV exposure (sunlight)
- Special storage is no longer needed once heaters are bonded to heat sink
