Position Overview

UTAT-Space Systems is currently seeking a dynamic Finance and Business Development Lead to oversee our financial operations. As the largest student design team at U of T, UTAT has achieved significant financial milestones, making this an exceptional opportunity for a finance professional. In this role, you will be responsible for budget management, fundraising, and cash flow oversight. Collaborating closely with the subsystems leads, you will assess the feasibility of component purchases and contribute to grant applications as well as potential sponsorships.

Your financial forecasts will play a pivotal role in supporting our teams through guiding capital acquisition and expense reduction strategies. As Finance Lead, you will work closely with the Executive team to engage with University Administration, secure support from student levies, and cultivate relationships with external partners to foster UTAT's sustained growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Use analytical tools like Excel to analyze finances, predict cash flows, and assist Business Development
• Assisting and Approving divisional budgets for the fiscal year
• Communicate reliably with members, the executive team, and the Director of Space Systems
• Research sponsorship and grant applications to increase UTAT revenue
• Liaise with corporate sponsors to obtain funding and promote their brand
• Maintain accurate records for all UTAT’s finances, including revenues and expenses for the team
• Collect receipts and executing the reimbursement process with due diligence

Qualifications

• Interested in Finance and Business
• Advanced analytical skills with Excel (vector functions, pivot tables, etc.)
• Understanding or experience in budgeting, forecasting, and fundraising
• Intermediate financial acumen
• Excellent in verbal and written communication
• Works well with a team
