@channel general meeting Monday, August 22, 2022 will be firmware workshop, lead by me. It will be in Banting room 125, with online Zoom. This is a tutorial style thing where I'll talk a bit, then you guys do the thing on your own laptops. We will provide devkits.

For what I want to cover, I need 2 hours. The 2 things will be decoupled from each other. Aka you don't need to attend the first half, to be able to understand the 2nd half. But I'd encourage anyone serious/interested to attend both.schedule:

• 7:00 - 8:00pm - C code, GCC, what is linking, etc
  • general build stuff that will help you understand what the STM32CubeIDE is doing
• 8:00 - 9:00pm - how to program STM32 microcontrollers
  • using the devkits in the lab

By the end of the workshop, you should be able to:

• understand the GCC compile process
• understand the STM32CubeIDE development ecosystem
• know how to build, flash, and debug a STM32 project

To be able to follow along, you will need to install the following beforehand. It's probably gonna take ~30min to install, so it's better to do it before the workshop.

• 1st half: WSL2 (~10GB) and the Ubuntu Linux distribution (20.04 or 22.04 are both fine)
