Initial Testing Procedure
- Verify system alignment and sensor readings
- Request Telemetry of position
- Command ADCS to point in specified location
- Manually Perturb chassis gently to rotate spacecraft on air bearing at rate of 10 deg/second around z-axis
- Simulates ejection of spacecraft and detumble.
- Check if Maximum tumbling rate exceeded
General Overview:
- Induce some rotation in the satellite on the air bearing.
- Manually with human perturbation
- Introduces randomness → deployment will induce random torques
- Remotely through Tensor Tech Interface
- Consistent initial rotations can be made along defined axes.
- Take one set of measurements with detumbling disabled and another with detumbling activated.
- Measure angular velocities → detumbling will appear as decreased values
- Tensor tech induced rotation → data between trials can be compared mathematically
- Measure Magnetorquer Magnetic Moment → When moment duty cycles are 0, satellite is fully detumbled
- Tensor Tech enters safe mode if tumbling exceeds 360 deg
- Detumbling from 30 deg/s to 1 deg/s takes less than 12 hours
- Can use stronger magnetic fields to speed up testing
- Repeat testing for various magnetic field strengths
- Necessary? Full detumbling may take too long. Analyze data to demonstrate detumbling occurs or use high magnetic fields to fully detumble
- Do we need Ground Truth Vision System ?
Testing Procedure Revised:
Setup
- Stabilize Module on air bearing.
- Verify system alignment/sensor readings
