Mounting Components

• Mounting Box: Can’t mount on wall of roof (too complex procedure, need union workers, scanning wall for possible obstruction, etc)

  • Elevated mounting using stand/platform (stool)
    • need to consider weight
    • 10-20cm of snow drifts accumulating which can block vents
  • Use tarp (angled) over box to shield it from snow/rain buildup on top of box

• Mounting power supply: want it to be slightly elevated due to heating

• weather causing movement amongst components - mount components onto box walls/base to prevent this?

• routing clamps (OTS , 3D printed)

  • How much sun will hit the box? is it experiencing direct sunlight? (what’s the constant ambient temp?)
    • mostly direct (refer to images in main page)
    • can be placed in corner where protected from sun/snow on two sides of box
  • Working temperature of components
  • Smaller devices with lower input power can often take advantage of surface area dissipation, heat sinks and various passive venting strategies.
    • Should enclosure be vented?—> need to ascertain level of heat rise that will occur inside
