Summary
- The push mechanism rod to activate the deploy switch will go through the foot of the -z panel, and the switch itself will be above the -z panel next to the payload. The switch will either have to be mounted to the rails or the bottom of paymech’s bracket. There will be a board attached the switch to connect to the rest of the power system.
- There are two types of ways to activate the switch which we are modelling
- The rod will press the deploy switch directly (see Design 1)
- The rod will transfer its vertical motion to the horizontal motion of another rod which will press the deploy switch (Design 3)
- We need to model both designs to optimize volume (can it fit within the rails, -z panel, payload, accuracy in pressing the switch, and durability
- We will simulate the forces applied to the switch in Ansys and potentially have a physical model as well
Tasks
The Fusion Teams “deploy_switch_assembly” file can be used (@Sakeena Qureshi to add)
- [ ] Go through deploy switch PDF and take out all relevant requirements/dimensions
- [ ] Especially for how the switch should be pressed
- [ ] Model a simple version of the switch in SolidWorks (it says 3D model not available in Digikey) using the drawing in Switch section
- [ ] Find out where board is attached to the switch
- [ ] Design #1 @Alex Yuchen Huang
- [ ] Make a hole for the rod in one of the -z panel feet
- [ ] Find a location to attach the switch to the rails (it’s ok if mounting hole isn’t there yet - we will add one)
- [ ] Model a rod to go through the foot and press the switch lever
- [ ] Design #3 @gauri karajagi
- [ ] Make a hole for the rod in one of the -z panel feet
- [ ] Find a location to attach the switch to the bottom of the lowest paymech bracket in the assembly
- [ ] Design a mechanism connecting two rods like the picture in Design #3: One of the rods should come out of the the -z panel vertically, the other should press the switch horizontally.
