UTAT is committed to building its first in-house CubeSat SDR starting in 2026. The motivation behind this project is twofold: to significantly reduce the cost of relying on COTS SDRs, and to give students hands-on experience designing high-frequency PCBs. Eventually, UTAT plans to publish open-source documentation so that any CubeSat design team can learn from and replicate the process of designing their own in-house SDR.
